Education is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty. ACD runs open-air classrooms, provides school supplies, and sponsors tuition for children in rural Uttar Pradesh who would otherwise never see the inside of a classroom.

Our tutors — many of whom are local college students — teach literacy, numeracy, English, and life skills. We also provide uniforms, bags, and notebooks so that financial barriers never stand between a child and their dreams.

Educating the Forgotten
Children of the Ganges

On the ghats of Prayagraj, hundreds of boatmen families live along the river — their children growing up without access to schools, books, or teachers. These families earn daily wages ferrying pilgrims and tourists, with no means to afford formal education. ACD stepped in to change that story.

We operate a dedicated school for boatmen's children right on the banks of the Ganges in Prayagraj. Our volunteer teachers — many of them local college students — teach Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, and life skills. We provide everything: uniforms, notebooks, stationery, school bags, and most importantly — hope. For these children, our school is the first step toward a life beyond the riverbanks.

What makes our program unique is that we go where the children are. Instead of expecting families to send their kids miles away, we set up learning spaces near the ghats — making education accessible, familiar, and free of cost.

A hungry child cannot learn. Through our partnership with Swiggy, we provide freshly prepared, hygienic mid-day meals to every child at our school — every single day. Balanced meals including rice, dal, sabzi, roti, and seasonal fruits are delivered hot and fresh, ensuring no student has to choose between hunger and education.
